History

Arthur Pendragon is a scrawny 16-year old treated like a nerd and a geek. Arthur spends his time acting as an underachiever at his academy school, Worcestershire, and is most commonly the practice dummy at the school jousting fields, for medieval jock Lancelot and his crew. He is also nephew to King Harold and Queen Lillian, cousin of Fiona and is the son of an unknown father who abandoned him.

When King Harold dies of old age, the ogre Shrek, along with his friends, Donkey and Puss, go off to find Arthur. When they first arrive at his high school, Arthur was mistook by the trio for a tormentor that beat him in jousting. Throughout the movie, Arthur kept attempting to make a break for it from Shrek so he doesn't have to be king. When the four were going back to Far Far Away, Arthur tried to turn the ship around, causing it to crash into sharp rocks. Arthur and the trio run into Artie's retired wizard teacher, Merlin. In order to help Shrek and Arthur reconcile, he makes them look into a thick cloud of smoke to reveal their thoughts. When Arthur sees his thoughts, he sees a bird and its father, who abandons his offspring. After a talk with Shrek, Arthur decides to become the new king of Far Far Away. When the four return to Far Far Away (after defeating Captain Hook and cronies who were sent by Prince Charming to capture Shrek and kill Arthur), they find it overrun by fairy tale villains.

When Arthur and the trio are captured by Charming's henchmen, Shrek tells Artie he tricked him into coming with him to be king of Far Far Away. When Arthur was about to leave Far Far Away, Donkey tells him that Shrek lied about what he said. He says he only said that to prevent Charming from killing him. After that, Artie and the others rescue Shrek from being killed by Charming. After Prince Charming's downfall, Arthur becomes the new king of Far Far Away.
