Spellbinding, gripping, etc. are obvious choices. The power of imagination, determination and techno know-how was celebrated in the character of Tony Stark. Whether using crude tools and random raw materials in a cave or using the latest high tech tools in a state-of-the-art facility, creativity and resourcefulness were the key elements of his success. The special effects and cinematography in general were beyond awesome. A suspension of disbelief was unnecessary, since the special effects were so convincing. And unlike the usual comic-book hero, this guy, who started out as another (yawn) James Bond type, evolved as a character and grew as a man (no pun intended) from his experiences. He was all too human by the end. Engineers, mired in the media's portrayal of them as dorky nerds, finally attain fame, riches and hero status in this film.  Loved this movie--see it right now.
